Initial Certification

All Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) in the Commonwealth of Kentucky must have taken a course that conforms to the 1994 National DOT Standard Curriculum. For any questions concerning EMT certifications, please email jon.muncy@kctcs.edu

Initial Certification

If you are seeking your initial certification as an EMT you will need to download the EMT Initial Certification Packet. This packet is to be submitted to the Kentucky Board of Emergency Medical Services by an instructor giving a new class along with a money order or certified check for $10 payable to Kentucky State Treasurer.

This is a checklist of requirements that must be met to be eligible for EMT certification.  Please be aware that a criminal background check from state of residency for past 5 years will be required to be submitted with all initial applications.
